We´re here!

Buenos Dias, Amigos! We are here in Tela. We arrived in San Pedro Sula where Al, Norm & one of Tela´s finest (armed with an automatic rifle) picked us up & drove us the 1.5 hour drive to Tela. We couldn´t see much because it was dark, but our guard (Orlando) pointed out the spots where the ¨banditos¨ are known for doing their work.

There is a fiesta going on in Tela this weekend, so we arrived to a party! We had some juice, settled into our room and then ¨went out¨ to see the fiesta. It was fun but we were tired...we´ll try to celebrate more tonight. There is a children´s street theatre performance tonight...sounds like Very Merry...its amazing how you can go so far and see the same thing!

So far today we have visited one school (its still morning here on Sat). The school is small and run down but has a very dedicated principal, Marina. We also met with a city industrial engineer there, Emma, who was able to answer many questions. We gathered as much information as we could, took pictures and a water sample. So far the Spanish phrase I´ve used the most is ¨mucho gusto¨ (nice to meet you)...which I learned from Charlie & Simran, who learned it at school from Senorita Siepel!

Right now I am in an internet cafe. We haven´t had time to figure out the internet at the hotel yet. I´ll post pictures from our computer later. Check back.

Well, I´m off to visit more schools and the rehab center...more soon!

Adios,
Parm & Jeff
